SHOOT.EDIT.SUBMIT. 08.17.12.

I hope you all have a great week filled with fun and awesome shots.  My son started school this week, so we have all been adjusting.  Charley misses her brother and cries for him every day.  I am sure when Charley goes back to pre-k soon Little Lady will cry for her.

This week is going to be a tad different.  I am only showcasing the winner.

Serendipity is Sweet

Serendipity is sweetSimply stunning!  The light is so wonderful.  I really love everything about this image.  So gorgeous.

Why just the winner? Well because the other two have their sites disabled so I cannot get an image to share.

I will share the links to their sites so you can see the images.  Please click on and see the beautiful photos they linked up. Truly gorgeous!

Homesick Photographs & Memories

This does bring up a good point.  I understand wanting to protect your images, but it is a royal pain when you enter things like SHOOT.EDIT.SUBMIT. in which we try to showcase people.  What if it was a big site like I Heart Faces (totally not comparing my site to that fantastic site, just play along) or something?  More than likely you wouldn’t get featured.  I really do understand why people do it, trust me I get it.  But as the host of this, I am saying it is a pain.  I encourage everyone to join in, so don’t get me wrong.  I guess I won’t wait until Thursday evening to narrow down my top three. I usually do a top 5-7 on Tuesday or Wednesday and then come back with fresh eyes to do the three.  Maybe this will allow me more time to contact people for an image.

Join in your shots from this week.  Show me how you are rocking August.

Here are the guidelines:

1. Photos can be anything, there is never a theme. Even though the name is shoot, edit, submit you do not have to edit the photo.  It can be SOOC (straight out of the camera). No theme, no real rules for type of photos.

2. Photo must be taken in the past week - I want you to get out with your camera!

3. Only one entry per person, please.

4. "Shoot. Edit. Submit." button or a link back to this contest must be on your post in order for it to qualify.

5. Link only to your blog post not your main blog URL. That makes it so much easier for everyone to find your photo.

(If you submit a photo you are granting me permission to copy and paste it onto our blogs if you win.)

  1. I think protecting your work is an important thing, especially when it comes to posting images. So many lift them and re-use them without giving credit. My 365 blog and my other main site are both protected in this way but it is not a complete solution to be honest, it just makes it a tiny bit harder to do and so deters people. If you know what you are doing there are 2 very simple ways round it that I am not going to post here but I will send you an email to help you.

  2. I have been going back and forth about this myself. I know that it isn't foolproof and if someone really wants to steal it they will find a way. I have decided that if I don't want it stolen, I won't put it online.

  3. Thank you so much for choosing my photo! Sorry about the disabled right click, I hadn't really thought about how that affected my photo submissions...hm. Perhaps it's time for just a watermark. Food for thought, I've taken it off for now. Thanks again for choosing my photo. Have a great weekend!

  4. I loved that shot of Melissa's!! Trust me- it totally peeves me that some psycho forced me to choose between keeping my images mine or being able to allow them to be featured somewhere. In a way though- just adding the link can be a blessing in itself- it brings a bit more traffic to the featured blog. But I get it- it's a pain. I agonized over this. But when someone is taking my images, treating them like they are of her own kids- I had to draw the line. What bothered me the most- she made reference to my daughter being sick. I don't want that publicly tied to her image. She is not a sickly child & I'm grateful for that. It was just too much to deal with & devoured 2 weeks of my life to get it straight. So I guess really- we should all be asking the blogging platforms to do something about it. Make it easier for us to protect our images & yet allow the features of them to still happen. There must be a way.

  5. Happy Friday, I totally understand the hassle of it. I feel like if you entering a challenge like this then it's be an image you're willing to share with credit of course.

  6. Oh happy dance! I'm so excited to be featured. Thank you!!! I truly love all the winners this week. Wowza!

I understand the frustration on both sides of the copyright issue. I agree with Gina, there must be a better way!. One of us (someone smarter than me ;P ) needs to figure it out and sell it to Google and for a gazillion dollars. That'd buy a lens or two.

  7. That is true what you say, Gina - Whatever we try to secure our images there will always be someone out there that can find a way to snag it so to speak. But believe me I have this feeling if we are concerned of our images being stolen - be sure they will ;) but there is actually not many that really want to, why? because they are making their own? - Anyhow - This picture of Melissa is wonderful and it is how I felt when I was 14 years old - sitting there all alone with a huge feeling of peace. Thank you so much for showing - Thank you for your visit at my site!!!

  8. It's a tough one... whether to disable right clicking or not. I can see from your perspective how much of a pain it is when you want to feature people who linked up. I can also see it from the perspective of stolen images (especially in Gina's case.... that was pretty bad for her!!)
On another note, the choice of Melissa's image was perfect!! Thanks also for hosting :)

  9. I had forgot all about that I have put disable on:) Sorry I understand your point of view and I took it off. After all what happened to Gigi and some other people I reacted that way.
    Thank you:)

  12. My photos are typically "de-linked" in the inserting of them. For me it's not so much about winning as it is just about having fun participating and growing my skills. But I definitely know I'm one of them that is probably the pain in the tookas for you - sorry!

  13. Whew! I squeaked in just under the deadline this week. But at least I remembered!

Melissa's photo is absolutely gorgeous! As are the other two winners.
