My Birthday Lens

Okay this post is a little bit of catch up.  This past Saturday was my birthday.  I know you want to know and I am not ashamed, so I will tell you how old I turned.  I am now 35 years old.  It looks a lot older on the computer screen than I imagined it in my head.  I feel 25 (minus the rocking body).

My birthday present to myself was that oh so coveted wide angle lens I have been talking about!  I got myself a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle.  I guess it is considered an ultra-wide angle.  Whatever they call it, I call it awesome.  I bought it second hand from a person that just upgraded to a 5D Mark II (apparently they are not compatible), so I got a pretty good deal on a flawless lens.

My husband and I took the kids to the nearby state park to break this baby in.  It was a great day and the last day we got to go without jackets.  Yes, Cole is wearing his awesome cape and mask from Babypop Designs.

Boy, is this lens different.  I am going to need a lot more practice to get used to it.

But at least I live where there is awesome stuff to photograph.  I just need to get out and do it.

The kids really enjoyed their hike.

Here is just one more, I promise.

I used the new lens on all of these shots.  I really like it and am very happy with it.  Like I said, I just need more practice…lots more.

That last shot is my favorite, wow, and I like to think of it as experimentation rather than practice! ; ) But really, the shots look great to me.

  11. Congrats on the new lens! I Love the last one, such a cool perspective. You do live in a place with tons to photograph, envious. Capes are the best, Alexis wore hers yesterday.
