Need to think about Taxes?

Ugh, I know.  You are thinking about all sorts of things and taxes isn’t one of them.  But tax time is coming.  The end of the year means cut offs and deadlines.  Next thing you know you will have the deadline for turning in your tax forms.

My husband does our taxes every year.  Every single year he uses Turbo Tax.  So I thought I would share, especially for my friends that are stationed overseas, need to file an extension, or are foster parents.

Did you know that you can file an extension through Turbo Tax?  You can use form 4868 tax extension.  Military families stationed overseas have until June 15ht to file an extension, if needed.

Foster families can claim a foster child as a dependent if they have had that same child in their custody for over 6 months out of that year.  I did not know that before.

There are a lot of things I have found out along the way and wanted to share. I am by absolutely no means an expert on taxes or any financial management.  This is just shared information.  If you have questions you can find out information on government websites, through sites like Turbo Tax, accountants and financial advisors, and lawyers.

Do your own research to find the solution that works best for you.  We have always used Turbo Tax and I recommend them, so I am writing about them.  There are a lot of confusing terms and Turbo Tax breaks it down easily for me to understand.

  1. I'm a CPA and so is my husband and we use Turbo Tax as well. I always recommend that to my friends.
