Edit Me Challenge: Tractor

I haven’t participated in Edit Me Challenge in a while.  It has a new home, too.  Edit Me Challenge is now on its very own site.

Here is the photo that was published.

Week 25

I DID NOT TAKE THIS PHOTO.  This is supplied by the photographer and you download it and edit it however you choose.  It really is fun.

So here is my edit.

Week 25 edit

Now here is what I did to get it:

1. I decluttered the background by using content-aware and the clone tool. I removed the pumpkin cannon, corn stalks, a fence post, and a toy on the ground.

2. I ran Pioneer Woman’s free action “Vintage”.

     a) Adjusted Grain to 40%

     b) Vintage Blur to 75%

     c) Layer Mask over the tractor on Vintage Blur layer and adjusted density to 60%

     d) Ran a curves adjustment to lighten the photo

     e) Did a crop to focus on the tractor more

     f) Did an edge vignette at 22% opacity

     g) Sharpened it for the web

So there you have it.  It looks like a lot of stuff, but I did this all in less than 10 minutes.  That includes playing around with a tilt shift version.  I need to practice that, a lot apparently.

I don’t know if I am necessarily completely happy with the result, but this will work.  It needs something.  If I really wanted to I would stretch the canvas and clone some background to give this shot the composition I want.  But I am not that ambitious today.

  2. I love the vintage feel of your edit. Nicely done! And I totally need some skills in cloning and removing clutter ;) You are such a whiz.

  6. I like the processing, and I agree that the compositin was tricky on this one! The vintage feel of your edit is great for this photo, though!
