Upclose and Personal

This past week I took a couple of the kids on a walk.  I had an opportunity to take some neat pictures of flowers and things spotted along the way.

bee

This is my first shot of a bee on a flower.  I don’t like the idea of possibly getting stung, so I tend to run screaming like a tiny girl avoid them.

So now I feel super cool.  I know, so many people have been posting pictures of bees on flowers or even cooler things like them hovering around, but this is my first so I had to share it.  Can you tell I have been drawn to macro shots lately?  I love them!

  1. I love your "bee on flower" shot! :) What lens did you use? I am thinking about a macro lens but haven't begun researching yet... great photo!

  2. Heidi, I am actually too cheap to buy a macro lens. So I make do with less expensive options. I don't believe in just cropping an image to make it macro. I am going to do a post next week showing my very cheap way of macro photography. It is less than $15.

  3. That is a FANTASTIC shot! The details are amazing! Have you ever tried freelensing? I'm seeing it all over the place lately, but I'm kind of nervous to try it myself (I'm a dork that way).

  5. Oh Kim, this is so fabulous! It's a perfect shot! I don't worry about getting close to those bees. It's worth it if you get a shot like this. And I think they're usually too focused on the pollen to notice us!
