I have not taken any pictures this week. Arg! So I went to my massive collection of unedited photos that are just waiting for me. I took this one a couple of weeks ago because I thought it looked cool. I may be the only one that thinks fungus looks cool, but oh well.
I have been taking Kim Klassen’s Skinny Mini course (it’s free, you should totally take it). I have been learning some editing. The course is emphasized for Photoshop Elements, but Photoshop has very similar things, so it is easy to adjust.
This image is done without any actions. Just my manipulation with layers. I wanted to test out what I have been learning. I still think I like to use actions more, but now I am learning stuff so I don’t have to rely on them as heavily.
So here is my “something brown” for Foto Friday. Fungus on a fallen tree. I know, your Friday is complete now. You’re welcome. ![]()

It's fungi and you're a fun girl! I took that class and loved it-ended up taking the full on class afterward from Kim. Great fungus shot!
ReplyDeletethat is pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteCool shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice, I do appreciate it. I do need to remember that when I'm out taking pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love this shot! I would have done the same thing, I took pics of mushrooms this weekend.
Great job as always!
Thanks for joining in & have a great weekend!
Lori
wow, you really DID take something that I wouldn't normally think was beautiful and make it so interesting and lovely.
ReplyDeleteI almost want to write a story around it, it's so inspiring. :)
What a gorgeous picture.
What a great shot - I actually love it!
ReplyDeleteyes, complete my friday is now, thanks :D
ReplyDeleteWow, I really love it. The color, texture, depth. Very cool. ;)
ReplyDeleteI need to check that class out! I'm a fan of actions (ehh, does that mean I'm lazy??) but there are some things you just can't achieve without tweaking it on your own...great picture, fungus is pretty. Unless it's on your toes... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, and this is kind of random, but....do you have any tips for morning photo sessions? I'm a fan of evening light, but I have a client {yes, a paying client! Gasp! Cool! Wow! ;)} who wants to do a photo shoot in the morning. I'm nervous, because the only good light is right after sunrise, and that's at like...7 a.m. They have a 1 year old and I kind of doubt will want to be up at 7. Any suggestions? I understand if you're busy and don't have time to get back with me on this, so no rush or hurry...I just thought I'd ask. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks awesome! I need to take some classes and learn how to use photoshop better!
ReplyDeleteThis shot is awesome--I love the contrast in textures between the mushrooms and the tree bark! :D
ReplyDeleteI didn't comment on this yet? I'm so behind. (167 in my Reader today). I happen to love the fungus on the tree. I think it's a really great shot. It's something I would totally do. Very nice, girlfriend!!
