Foto Friday: Red, White, and/or Blue

This week I am not going to feature my faves from last week.  Instead I want to thank each and every one of you for reading this blog and those that join in Foto Friday.  I hadn’t any photography before blogging.  I mean nothing.  I bought my DSLR a year ago.  It wasn’t until Household 6 Diva started Foto Friday that I started looking at things in different ways.  I whined like a little baby when she said it was going to stop.  She asked me if I would be interested in taking it over.  I jumped all over it.  I love this meme and it has helped me grow.  The more I get into photography the more I realize I have soooo much to learn.  I just took my camera off of the auto settings 6 months ago.

So with wanting to learn more about photography, raising my young children (the baby should start walking very soon), big things going on in the foster care situation for both children, and just trying to still be a wife and keep my house clean enough to look like a house, I have realized that I would do better participating in memes rather than hosting them.  I am by no means complaining.  Many people have far more hectic lives than I do.  Mine isn’t really that hectic to me, it is all just time consuming.  So I have decided to hand over the reigns of Foto Friday to Lori at La La’s Home Daycare

So next week you can come here and see my submission for Foto Friday, but you will have to go over there to participate.

I am still going to be blogging and participating in photo challenges, so don’t go anywhere.  Smile

haybale

There is a man in our town that dresses up a hay bale in his front yard for every holiday.  It is quite funny.  He may be a tad weird, but still funny.  So I snapped a picture of this for you.  The hat is red, white, and blue.  I had them all covered.

I edited this to try to make it look like an old photo.  I ran Pioneer Woman’s actions Seventies (100%) and Sunshine (37%).  I textured it with Kim Klassen’s Chamomile (29%) with a layer mask over the hay bale at 60% density.

If all of that was just the teacher in Charlie Brown, I am sorry.  I know not all of my friends are into the technical stuff.  In my husband’s words, “I just took a good picture and made it look like crap.”

Don’t forget to head over to La La’s Home Daycare next week.  Thank you again!

  3. My favorite part of your whole post (probably because I relate oh so well with it) is that your husband says "you took a good photo and made it look like crap." That made me laugh pretty hard. Our men must be cut from the same cloth. :)

I'm glad that Foto Friday was here for a while. It introduced me to it, stretched me as a photographer and helped me to make new bloggy friends. I think Lori is a great choice for the new Foto Friday Diva. :)

  8. It sounds like you've figured out how to strike just the right balance, so while I'm sad that you won't be hosting this anymore, I'm happy that things are going so well in your life and I look forward to joining in on the fun over at Lori's next week!
