Motor Skill Activity for Toddlers

Here is an activity perfect for young toddlers or special needs children.  This is a fun way to help with the pincher grasp, hand-eye coordination, and gross and fine motor skills.

You need a bottle and some cereal.  That is it.

Put some cereal out for your child and show them how to put i t in the bottle.  They will squeal with excitement as they drop each piece.  Since you are using cereal it won’t matter that exploring children pop these in their mouths.  :-)

  1. I think this idea is great! My nephew has Downs Syndrome and this would be great for him to practice with, plus he likes to eat everything.

I have missed you! Beginning of the school year has been crazy and then I was out of town for two weeks. Looking forward to catching up!

  6. I was trying to figure out who's arm that is? Little man? I think my Sprout would have no problem, so I'm thinking Cubbie would be the one to try this with. Did you try it with Charlie?

  7. My son would eat them all and they would never make it into the bottle. I will have to think of something I can put in that he won't eat.

  8. This is a great idea! Especially for the little ones that are still mouthing stuff. JDaniel4's Mom, we did small pom-poms with my older child, since mouthing/ eating is not an issue anymore. We also did large pom-poms in an apple juice jug.
