“DON’T DO” Coupons

We all gave our moms that coupon book for Mother’s Day.  You know the one that had coupons for a back rub, or washing the dishes.  Now you can make some more coupons...you know I love coupons!  This time make them for your kids.  Try this new way to reward your children.

Every time your kids do something that needs rewarding give them a “DON’T DO” coupon.  How you want to give them out is up to you.  The coupons are redeemable to NOT do a chore.  They can present them to you in leiu of doing a chore, like making their bed.  Make sure you make them valid for one use, or your sneaky kids will get around it.  You know they will.  :-)  Another tip is make sure it is a chore that can go without getting done this one time without making a big disruption in how you run the house.  If it is for taking out the trash, but it is trash day...you won’t get the trash gone until next week.  You could always do the chore, but isn’t that why we had kids in the first place?  He-he.

This is a great way to reward your kids without shelling out any more money and it is something they will actually like to get.  It is a win-win for all!  Try it.

What chore did you hate to do the most when you were a kid?

  1. that's a great idea! my kids are only 3 & 1, but i'll file this away for later. i always hated raking leaves when i was little... a one time pass on that chore would have been wonderful!
