Help Over the Hump: Expired Coupons

Wednesday is "Hump Day".  We all have long days before it and long days after it.  Maybe we can use today to help somebody over the hump.

Who would have ever thought you could help out someone with something you don't want or can't use.  What do you do with your unwanted and expired coupons?  Did you know that military families stationed overseas can use expired manufacturer's coupons up to six months after the expiration date?  There are many ways to get your coupons to these families.  You can find many great programs online that will provide base contact information for you to send your coupons to.  I use ocpnet.org and send my coupons directly to a base to be distributed among military families.  The draw back with these types of programs is that you need to sort the coupons, usually total them, and report the totals to the organization.  Doing these steps helps the organizations keep track of which bases need more contributors.  By using these organizations, your coupons reach more families and therefore help more people.

The easiest and most convenient way for you to help military families is to find a family that would like the coupons and send the coupons directly to them.  You can do this by utilizing social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.  Reach out to friends and ask them if they know military families stationed overseas.  Trade contact information and BOOM instant helper!  If you would like to find a family to send coupons to, but aren't interested in tracking down people this way, I have a solution for you.  Toni, aka The Happy Housewife, has a program that matches families all over the world.  If you would like to send coupons, or if you know of a family that would like to receive coupons, please go to this link.  She is doing a great thing by helping out these military families.  With so many options, it is very easy to help out these families that sacrifice for us and our country.  Try it.

  1. Oooh! I will be checking into sending coupons to a family. I use coupons but have a lot that I don't need and I always throw away my expired ones. This way they could go to good use, very good use. You really total up every single coupon? Uh, no thanks. Will just try to send directly to a family. Thanks for the great info!
